* Analysis assumes 1) that the price of a comparable hybrid vehicle will be somewhat higher than that of a conventional vehicle, 2) that highway MPG exceeds city MPG, 3) that hybrid MPG will be greater than conventional MPG, 4) that there are limits on tax incentives for hybrid vehicles, and 5) each gallon of gasoline consumed results in 19.56 pounds of CO2 output (a conventional figure given by various government agencies and private sources).
